Fifteen volunteers of the League for the Abolition of Hunting - LAC led sixteenth anti-poaching campaign that resulted in the Cagliari, despite days of uncertain weather, the neutralization of almost 2000 traps "armed" for birdlife (latziteddus, exactly 739 nylon laces and horsehair placed paramus patch on trees and 1,123 laces on the ground), as many as 32 traps for ungulates (sos cropos, steel cables to catch deer and wild boar). Neutralized even more than 2,000 armor metal for the positioning of laces.
The campaign, which was in constant contact with the Forestry Department and supervisory environment and the contribution paramus patch of the Legal Intervention Group non-profit organization, has seen, as usual, the participation of local and tenacious volunteers come from various parts of 'Italy with the 'aim to reclaim as many forests paramus patch and areas of Mediterranean from deadly traps set by poachers, to help the ongoing activities in the field of Forestry and environmental surveillance and other police forces.
Numerous areas jokes, dozens paramus patch of trails, in the woods and Mediterranean spots Capoterra, Uta, Assemini, Santadi, particularly in areas of Gutturu paramus patch Mannu, S'Arcu de su Schisorgiu, Poggio dei Pini, Rio S. Girolamo, Monte Arcosu .
It 'was released from the traps 1 Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos), and were found several small birds lifeless: 2 Blackbirds (Turdus merula), 1 Coal Tit (Parus ater), 2 Thrush Thrush.
All means prohibited for hunting and dead specimens of fauna recovered by volunteers of the LAC have been delivered to the Forestry Corps and supervisory environment at the command station Capoterra such material evidence. In some occasions, were found on the spot poachers with which there were verbal confrontations and was promptly warned for any necessary identification of the Forest and Environmental Watch.
On the same days were carried out "visits" at the markets of Cagliari San Benedetto and Via Quirra, to check for mis-selling of birds from illegal paramus patch activities, fortunately without success.
Poaching is an 'illegal activity and destructive of the environment (an estimated one hundred poachers "fixed" + about two hundred "occasional" only in Capoterra). The turnover is sensitive dimensions: just think that one griva (skewer 8 thrushes, de pillonis de tàccula) costs the illegal market one hundred euro retail. However one of the main "users" end of poaching seem to be some well-known restaurants of Cagliari against which appear necessary unannounced inspections by law enforcement. Do not need to check, in the Christmas period, the public markets.
From the findings also direct, however, the phenomenon paramus patch of poaching appears significantly down, thanks to the overall law enforcement efforts on the part of law enforcement and environmental organizations.
Poaching is, in fact, a misdemeanor offense punishable by law n. 157/1992, as amended by criminal sanctions (art. 30) and with administrative sanctions (art. 31), and by the Sardinia Regional Law n. 23/1998, as amended (Art. 74).
Andrea Cook, Eduardo Fourth and Maurizio Gatto, paramus patch coordinators of the campaign anti-poaching paramus patch of LAC in this regard stated: "This year we are particularly pleased with the assistance provided to Forestry and Carabinieri fighting poaching every day, but we are convinced the need for a much stronger commitment to buyers and a significant strengthening of sanctions: seizure of the means used for poaching, paramus patch including auto, inspections in restaurants and markets. Poaching is a real impact paramus patch to the environment, is a real theft from all of us. "
The LAC conducts anti-poaching campaigns in areas of the country where the phenomenon is more serious: in Sardinia as in the valleys Bresciane, as in the Pontine Islands, as all 'Isola del Giglio and Cyprus. This year's anti-poaching campaign in Sardinia was conducted in success
